A basket for my bike !

My bike complete with new basket
After 9 hours restful sleep we feel human again. Today is allocated to setting up the bikes ready to go to the market tomorrow and bring the veggies and fruit back home.

So after breakfast out came the bikes from their storage on the galleria off the kitchen ............... my bike had two completely flat tyres so it was a walk to the garage to re-inflate them. Then off along the back streets to the cycle shop to buy a basket.

The cycle tracks here are excellent and as the law says that all motorists must allow a full metre clearance or there's a fine, you do get a little respect. The track we used has been laid down by the side of a tree-lined 'paseo' and the shadows of the trees fall across the path in the morning so it was a very pleasant ride. The water sprinklers that were spraying the grass areas were very refreshing when the slight breeze blew them in the right direction towards us.

The owner of the cycle shop spoke no English but it was easy enough to buy a basket and all the fittings. We gathered that the mechanic who would have fitted it for us was at lunch already but could do it later in the day. We settled for a large bag to carry the basket in and Ian would fit it himself. Of course, when we got to the apartment none of his spanners are the correct size, so another trip needed to the ferreteria !

We love having coffee at one of the seafront bars so that is what we did before returning to the apartment for a light lunch. Mmmmmmmmmmm serrano ham ......... mm mm mm.

As the sun set this evening we went for another bike ride ...... to buy the spanner. Ian has also fitted my "free from Kelloggs" cyclometer to my bike to tell me how far I have cycled and at what speeds. (All part of my diet ... won't bore you with that).

We had a lovely meal on our balcony watching the sun finally set behind the mountain and the sky turn all shades of red, orange and purple.

So we are ready for the market tomorrow.................................
